How do I speed up or slow down my pendulum clock?
To speed up your clock, move the pendulum bob up. To slow it down, move the bob down. A small adjustment goes a long way — try turning the regulating nut just one turn, then let the clock run for 24 hours and recheck the time.
Which hand should I use to set the time — the hour or the minute?
Always use the minute hand to adjust the time. Gently move it clockwise, pausing at each chime or strike to let the clock finish its sequence. Never move the hour hand directly.
I have three winding arbors (holes). What does each one do?
On most clocks:
Left hole winds the strike (hourly gong)
Middle hole winds the time (keeps the clock running)
Right hole winds the chime (plays the quarter-hour melody)
I have three weights. Two weigh the same, one is heavier. Where do they go?
The heavier weight hangs on the right side — it powers the chime.
The equal weights go on the left (strike) and center (time).
